Reading:
Dr. Seuss books for Grades 1+
Reading A-Z apps Grade 1+
Spelling/Word use:
Simplex spelling-Sight Words Grade 1-3
Simplex Spelling-Phonics Grade 1-3
Alphabet Fun-Supports reading, writing and spelling. Grade K-2
Pocket Phonics-Supports phonics instruction. Grade 1-3
Sound Sorting-Used for students who have difficulty with beginning sounds in words. Grade 1-2
Phonics Genius-Flash Cards with numerous forms of words to support spelling and comprehension.
iWrite Words-Supports students who struggle with letter formation and sounds. Grade 1-2
Spelling City-Can be used from grade 1+. Supports spelling both in the class and at home through activities that encourage the use of different spelling patterns. This can also be used on a desk top.
Mind mapping: To be used from grades 1-12. These apps make mind mapping easy for students and helps bring to life their ideas, thoughts and knowledge.
Writing and Typing-These apps support students who have difficulty writing their thoughts down manually. Apps like LivePaper and Explain Everything allow students to record their thoughts and then put them into their own writing. Tap Typing is an iPad designed typing program.
Mathematics: There are numerous math applications. The ones listed below have good reviews and success. They can be used at numerous grade levels.

Middle school math-Grade 7
Blogging/Social Network-All of these services have apps and websites to make it easy for students to access at home and at school.
Evernote-Evernote has a range of apps useful for teachers and students. Evernote itself is a wonderful tool to keep a digitial portfolio for students. As well, for teachers to keep records on how the students are progressing in class. From their site, you can pick and choose what apps work for you. The best thing is they are all linked; even your desktop.
