Today we began our weekly 'Minds on Math' activity. Students are presented with an open- ended question to solve. The answer could either have multiple, possible answers, or could be solved using multiple strategies. The purpose is to create confidence in the students ability to problem solve, become familiar with using a variety of strategies, and communicating their findings. Students solve the problem their way, independently and share their process with everyone when finished. Many of us felt overwhelmed at first, but with a little time I began to notice our confidence was growing. Here are some pictures from the morning group.
